The delight of birdsong.

What a delightful sound to greet me from dawn till dusk. Birdsong punctuates my day with musical notes. It reassures and comforts me knowing impartial sentient fliers are outside my windowpane. They always show up, never tardy, always hungry. A lesson in itself! Parakeets have been coming to my garden, the pink ringed necks graze for hours. Looking around and down sympathetically and throwing crumbs of nuts down to other birds. Symbiosis at its sweetest. Birds are beautiful and life-enhancing. They do everything mammals do and more than that.

I had a parakeet called, ‘Bobbie’ that was bound to the earth and low trees. It did not take off as it has lost its rudder tail. Did it use to fly into me as if to tell me some secret? Another Kingdom somewhere? Was it to tell me Jimmy Hendricks had released his forefathers in an overwhelmingly passionate act of human kindness? Or had they had been used on a film set and just released into the London night?
